IMPROVISATION TECHNIQUES & FRAMEWORK

In this interactive class we will learn how to improvise and also how to develop your improv ideas. We will learn specific techniques and improvisational strategies. Everyone is encouraged to play and explore in a fun and judgment free zone. Guitarist Improviser/Composer Ben Levin will be the accompanist during this class.

THE MOZART CONCERTOS: A CHANCE TO MAKE YOUR BEST IMPRESSION
with LINDA TOOTE
At every college and orchestra audition you will almost certainly be asked to play a Mozart concerto. Take a fresh look at what really matters: learn some specific ways to stabilize your rhythm, make your articulation sparkle, play musical phrases rather than the phrases your flute wants to make, improve intonation on your note endings. These are the aspects of your performance which will make the audition committee sit up and take notice.

THE 36TH ANNUAL PAPPOUTSAKIS COMPETITION REPERTOIRE
with SARAH BRADY
Open to students competing in the first round of the Pappoutsakis 36th Competition on Nov 15th, this class will be an opportunity to fine tune Honegger's Danse de la Chevre and the Bach Partita with a two time prizewinner of the competition. Class is open to 3 performers and unlimited auditors.

THE ART OF LISTENING
with ADAM WORKMAN
Drawn from a vast library of old and new recordings, this unique class encourages critical observation and constructive thoughtful communication among flutists. The "Art of Listening" highlights recordings of famous flute literature that offer insight into the history of our tradition from the development of the Boehm system flute and the French Flute School through modern day practices.
